Stories that stay with you

Houseguest Pictures is an Emmy-winning studio founded and led by filmmaker and producer Eugen Bräunig. We are dedicated to creating cinematic work that captures the Zeitgeist. From development through production, we enter each new world as respectful guests — bringing curiosity, care, and craft to bold narratives that deserve to be told.
Our work spans urgent human rights stories (Welcome to Chechnya, HBO; Takeover, NYT Op-Docs), cultural investigations (The Vow, HBO; Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller, National Geographic; Captive Audience, Hulu; Harry & Meghan, Netflix), intimate artist portraits (Happy Clothes: A Film About Patricia Field, Greenwich Entertainment; Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road, PBS; The Greatest Love Story Never Told, Amazon), and historical and cinematic explorations (Light & Magic, Disney+; Sally, National Geographic; Desperate Souls, Dark City and the Legend of Midnight Cowboy, Kino Lorber; Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial, Netflix).
Recognized with 14 News & Documentary Emmy nominations and three wins, Houseguest collaborates with leading production companies and visionary directors around the world. We bring together producers, artists, technologists, media professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, and cultural interventionists. We embrace new tools, always looking for ways to refine our process and expand our creative possibilities.
Our reach is amplified through strategic partnerships. With MACROFILM — the production company Eugen co-founded in 2020 and built alongside Cara Fitts over more than five years — we bring deep expertise in archival research, rights & clearances.
In parallel, our ongoing collaboration with XMACHINA, a global design studio working across large-scale exhibitions, attractions, cutting-edge visual effects, and real-time media, expands our capacity to create ambitious, multidisciplinary experiences.
Looking into the future, we are as committed as ever to artistry, integrity, and enduring stories that are made to inspire, to connect, and to make people feel and understand the world we live in. We believe in cinema’s potential for social impact — work that not only lingers with audiences but becomes part of the cultural conversation.
